Rick and I are headed to Orange Park, Florida for the conference held by the Florida Bed & Breakfast Inns Association. The topic this year is “Recovery” with a medical theme. We always enjoy these meeting where we get to see folks who’s paths we cross only occasionally during the year, and mostly at conferences.
On Saturday we’ll be visiting with seminar graduates, consulting clients, and innkeepers extraordinaire Shannon and Bob Tidball at the Addison on Amelia to see first hand what they’ve done and meet Maggie Doone (check out Bob’s fantastic blog) and, of course, sample Bob’s brew and Shannon’s cooking. These folks have taken everything they’ve learned, injected their distinctive stamp, and have become the #1 inn in Florida on Trip Advisor. What an accomplishment!
On Sunday Rick and I will be conducting a day-long seminar for aspiring innkeepers with the afternoon devoted to issues of particular importance to new innkeepers. We look forward to a fun, fact-filled day! Hold onto your hats, folks, we’ll be moving FAST!
And then on Monday we’ll present a session appropriately titled and themed “Innkeeper’s Exititis.” Rick is an EMT (and volunteer firefighter) in his hometown of Kennebunkport, Maine, so he’ll be bringing along some suitable props. We’ll let you know how the patient is doing! And how are you doing? Are you seeing the hospitality market recover in your area or at your inn? Let us hear about it.
