Thanksgiving is a great time to reflect back on all the wonderful gifts we have received in our lives, and give thanks. When I was searching for a theme for a Thanksgiving blog I came across this:
Bed and Breakfasts across the US have recently completed their participation in the 5th year of the B&Bs for Vets program. The B&Bs for Vets program was our small but mighty segment of the hospitality industry’s way of giving thanks to our veterans. And give they did!
I personally wish I could have been present at some of the inns when the vets checked in to their rooms, sat down at breakfast and chatted with the other vets and guests. I know that the innkeepers receive a tremendous amount of satisfaction from this experience.
But since I couldn’t be that fly on the wall, this is my opportunity to share some of the comments of appreciation from a few veterans to their host innkeepers.
“We thank owners, Eric and Liz Broder at White Fences Inn ,Water Mill NY, for their fantastic hospitality. They opened up their inn to three veterans and not only gave us an overnight stay, they arranged a wine tasting, a play and a guided tour of the Parrish Art Museum. We cannot thank them enough for all they have done. We are very grateful.”
“We want to thank the gracious innkeepers Sam and Sharon so very much for letting us enjoy their historic beautiful B&B free of charge Tuesday evening. The generous couple opened all six rooms of their Holladay House Bed & Breakfast to veterans on Veterans Day. It was such a kind act. My husband Bill and I, and our friends Dave and Lisa, had such an enjoyable time and the breakfast was divine. Thanks again for your warm generosity”
“We have to give a shout out to Phil and Lisa who run the Camp Comfort B&B in Comfort, TX. They hosted my wife and I along with four other veteran families at the B&B Wednesday evening. We can’t thank them enough for participating in this great program and allowing us the opportunity to experience a great B&B in the Texas Hill Country!”
Giving thanks is such a powerful acknowledgment and equally, is the thanks that is given in return.
To end I want to share a very heartfelt welcome from an innkeeper and friend who is also a veteran.
“To all the veterans in this world. Thank you for your service. My windows are glowing with green lights and my home is open to you. I look forward to meeting new friends today as they take a break and rest their heads for the night” Donna Pearce, Admiral Peary Inn.
At this time of reflection, from myself and all our team at The B&B Team, THANK YOU innkeepers for all that you do and for all that you give.
Happy Thanksgiving and
Thanks for Listening,
Janet Wolf
